Artistic Swimming Report 2018
Artistic Swimming at Pearson High School is a small Summer sport- but what they lack in numbers they make up for with enthusiasm. The girls have one competition each year and spend the first few months of the year mastering the new figures and learning to hold their breath. Lessons are twice a week and Pearson is very lucky to have experienced coaches, Frances le Roux, Drew Anderson and Nina Smith, to assist.
We once again won the Eastern Cape Schools Challenge this year, which took place on Saturday 17 February at Pearson High School.
Notable top three results were as follows:
3rd Nina Smith
2nd Liyema Prince
1st Makayla Durham
3rd Meagan Vogel
15 and Over
1st Chanté Cloete
2nd Tenielle Pengelly
3rd Annika Venter
Two trios were entered into the Level 1 Section and the trio of Annika Venter, Gemma Gherbavaz and Chante Cloete came first.
Liyema Prince competed at the National Level 3 competition. Nina Smith obtained two bronze medals, for figures and solo respectively, at the Youth Nationals held in April.
Thank you to Nina Smith for being a wonderful captain this year. We hope she will continue helping to coach the girls next year.
